Description:
An online introductory session exploring how humour can be a powerful tool for transformation in therapy.

The long history of satire shows that laughter can facilitate life-changing insights. When a client laughs at a realisation, the shift is not just mental but visceral, creating deeper assimilation and psycho-physiological healing. With skilful and warm-hearted intention, humour can catalyse genuine change.

Traditionally, therapists are taught to tread carefully with humour, yet, when used with permission and sensitivity, humour can illuminate truth, soften defences, and help clients move beyond self-limiting beliefs. It’s not about laughing at someone but laughing with them at the parts of their personality that are holding them back.

In this Introductory session, Hephzibah Kaplan and Dr. Brian Kaplan will outline the principles and protocols of therapeutic humour, share research, and demonstrate its application through live examples. Participants will learn how to integrate humour safely and effectively into their clinical work, enhancing both client engagement and therapeutic outcomes.

Those wishing to deepen their practice can continue with two further sessions, focusing on skills development, practice sessions and advanced techniques.
You can choose to participate to one, two or all of them at your choice.

The live session will be recorded and you will have access to the recording  when you access your account on this platform (home-study package).
