A.C.O.R.N. - The Art of Feeling at Home
A.C.O.R.N. - The Art of Feeling at Home
Part 2
with Sarit Zeltzer, MA,
author of the book The Art of Feeling at Home
3 Thursdays, November 13, 20, 27, 2025
11am-1pm EST
As an advanced course, it builds on the foundation of Part 1, focusing on the deeper integration of mindfulness and creativity in trauma work.
Created for professionals working with trauma, the program offers practical tools to support both your clients—and yourself—in navigating the complexities of recovery and growth.
The course offers:
- Advanced techniques for emotional regulation and resilience.
- Creative practices for processing and expressing trauma.
- Strategies to integrate mindfulness and creativity into trauma-focused therapy.
- Reflective practices to nurture your personal growth as a therapist.
The course has three focuses:
1. Integration of ACORN Practices in Clinical Work
By the conclusion of the course, participants will be able to confidently integrate the ACORN process into their clinical practice. They will identify and apply at least three specific techniques or interventions from the model in therapeutic contexts, whether through dyad or group discussions, or reflecting on client work. This emphasizes not only learning the theoretical framework but also demonstrating concrete applications, ensuring that participants leave with tools ready to use in real-world settings.
2. Enhanced Professional Competency in Mindfulness and Creativity
The training aims to strengthen participants’ confidence in weaving mindfulness and creativity into trauma-focused therapy. Through ACORN exercises, guided practice, and reflective discussions, participants will increase their self-assessed competency from the beginning to the end of the program. It will focus on the participants’ growth in understanding when and how to introduce these methods effectively, reinforcing their ability to provide trauma-informed and creative interventions.
3. Personal Application for Professional Resilience
Alongside clinical integration, this course places emphasis on the therapist’s own wellbeing and resilience. Participants will learn how to use ACORN techniques for self-regulation and grounding during the three-week journey. This personal application underscores the importance of therapists embodying the practices they teach, allowing them to sustain their own energy and presence in the therapeutic process. Journaling and reflection activities will ensure that participants can track progress and recognize how these methods support their own professional endurance.
The course contains 6 hours of training live, online, that will be recorded to be watched and consulted at your pace.
The home-study package attached to this live workshop will count for 6 hours of NBCC continuing education for counsellors and board-certified art therapists (ATR-BC).
