A.C.O.R.N. - The Art of Feeling at Home
A.C.O.R.N. - The Art of Feeling at Home
with Sarit Zeltzer, MA,
author of The Art of Feeling at Home
June 13, 20, 27, 2025. 9-11AM EST
Participants will examine the role of creativity not just in healing, but in the process of rebuilding, adapting, and growing—helping clients move beyond survival into a deeper sense of stability, meaning, and inner homecoming through an in-depth exploration of A.C.O.R.N. mindfulness technique.
The workshop has three parts:
1. Introduction: Finding Ground – The Inner Sense of Home
What does it mean to feel at home within oneself after trauma? This session introduces mindfulness as a stabilizing resource and explores how creative approaches can help clients reconnect with an inner foundation. Participants will examine the role of presence, sensory awareness, and self-perception in supporting emotional stability and adaptation. Rooted in mindfulness-based psychotherapy and creative arts therapy, this work outlines a pathway for turning trauma into resilience and growth. By weaving together therapeutic practices with creative expression, participants will learn how mindfulness can guide individuals back to a sense of self and belonging, even after profound emotional wounds.
2. ACORN Mindfulness: The Path of Transformation – Navigating Change & Uncertainty
Growth does not happen instantly—it unfolds through movement, uncertainty, and adaptation. The session will introduce practical tools and meditative exercises designed by Sarit Zeltzer to support emotional healing and creative exploration. This part will explore how mindfulness and creativity help clients engage with the unknown, shift perspectives, and rebuild personal narratives. Participants will engage in an experiential process that examines the transition from disorientation to integration, discussing how these insights can inform their therapeutic work.
3. ACORN Mindfulness: The Journey Forward – From Trauma to Growth
How do we move from healing to expansion? In this final session, we focus on growth beyond survival—how creativity fosters renewal, purpose, and an evolving sense of self. Participants will discuss ways to help clients embrace their transformed identity, weaving together past experiences into a cohesive and meaningful life story.
ACORN is a structured approach to cultivating mindful awareness and emotional regulation. This method is built around the principles of Acceptance, Curiosity, Openness, Reflection, and Nurturance—each representing a core aspect of mindful engagement. Through guided practices, participants learn to accept their present experience without judgment, approach emotions and sensations with curiosity, maintain an open mind towards discomfort, engage in reflective thinking, and offer nurturance to themselves in moments of difficulty. Zeltzer's method is particularly effective for those navigating emotional challenges, as it promotes resilience and self-compassion through a gentle yet profound process of inner exploration.
